The Cleveland Guardians organization is working to improve all areas of the team this offseason to give them that little boost needed to finally get over the hump and try to capture the team’s first World Series since 1948 after falling just short in the ALCS this past season.
Improving the team isn’t just about working the free agent market and exploring trades, but also includes doing a little home improvement as the organization is entering the second phase of its $435 million Progressive Field renovation plan this offseason.
As the saying goes, one team’s trash is another fan’s treasure (or something like that), and Guardians fans now have the opportunity to bring a piece of Progressive Field home for a reasonable price as the team appears to be getting ready to sell some of the old seats that are being replaced.
New blue seats are being put into the stadium and should be ready to go by Opening Day, while the old seats are currently being sorted into pairs, which could indicate how they’ll be sold.
“If you’ve got a man cave or if you have a garage where you hang out, watch games, you can set them up and sit in them,” Guardians fan Chad Vlaeminck said in the above article on FOX 8. “Be a cool thing to have, a collector’s item.”
There are no details yet on how the seats will be sold or how much they will cost, but this will surely be a hot-ticket item for Guardians fans.
Keep an eye out to see if the team decides to sell any other parts of the old stadium.
Hopefully, the team can use some of that money to go buy some starting pitching.
