Spring training is around the corner, and baseball players who take their careers seriously have been preparing for weeks, if not months.
Thankfully for their fans, the Cleveland Guardians have plenty of those players who continually show they are committed to succeed.
One of them is Jaison Chourio.
You likely won’t see Chourio in the majors this year, but make no mistake: He is one of the most important players in the organization.
At 19 years old, he is still raw and yet to be tested in the high minors.
Just a glimpse will be enough to know that he is a gifted baseball player.
Noticeably stronger than last year, the outfielder was spotted training at the team’s complex in Goodyear, Arizona, and a short video shows how explosive his right-handed swing is.
“Cleveland Guardians 19-year-old switch-hitting CF prospect Jaison Chourio currently training out at the organization’s Goodyear Development Complex. Chourio during the 2024 season collected 31 XBH, 44 SB, 86 walks posting a .414 OBP with a 144 wRC+ over 98 games played,” Guardians Prospective wrote on X.

The sound of the ball coming off his bat is music to fans’ ears.
Chourio stole 44 bases last year for Single-A Lynchburg but hit just five home runs.
If he manages to increase that HR total, look out.
He has the frame to keep adding muscle as he matures, so more power could be coming.
It likely will be a couple of years until he reaches the majors.
Before that, he will have to face pitchers with much better stuff and command than the ones he has been seeing in the low minors.
Right now, however, Chourio is looking great, and the wrist injury that abbreviated his 2024 campaign appears to be behind him.
He will likely face his toughest challenge yet in his young career in High-A this season.
