The Cleveland Guardians have gotten several excellent performances from trade acquisition Alex Cobb.
He has a 2.76 ERA in 16.1 frames with the Guards after missing most of the season while recovering from left hip surgery.
The only reason why he hasn’t been able to pitch more is because of injuries.
His left hip is fine, but blisters and a fractured fingernail have limited him to the point that he needs another injured list stint.

It’s a frustrating development to see the 36-year-old righty being ready to pitch and feeling excellent and not being able to do it because of blisters.
The hope is that Cobb doesn’t require much more than the minimum time on the shelf and returns near the end of the regular season.
He has proven he still belongs in the bigs after such a long recovery.
However, he will need to let his fingers heal to make a strong return.
In the meantime, left-handed hurler Joey Cantillo will take his place in the rotation.
The Guardians have called up an interesting name to replace Cobb on the roster.
They are bringing up relief pitching prospect Andrew Walters, highly regarded in the organization.
If things break right, he could provide a similar spark to the bullpen than the one Cade Smith had to open the year.
Walters, a right-hander, has posted a 2.32 ERA, a 1.15 WHIP, and 79 strikeouts in 50.1 innings between Double-A and Triple-A this year.
The strikeout upside is enticing, and the overall potential is undeniable.
He will have a couple of weeks to leave his mark and show he belongs with the big boys.
