Cleveland Guardians’ superstar Jose Ramirez has had a crazy couple of days.
On Thursday, he became the main topic in MLB discussions after sweeping his 250th bag and joining the 250-250 club with 23 other people.
Friday wasn’t so kind to him, though.
If you are a Guardians fan, hold on to your seat for this one: Ramirez left Friday’s game with an injury.
“José Ramírez has exited the game here in Toronto after he went into the bag at first base awkwardly trying to avoid a throw from Blue Jays pitcher Chris Bassitt,” Guardians reporter Joe Noga wrote on X.

Ramirez was able to walk off on his own, which can be interpreted as a positive sign, but he looked hurt and that’s not ideal.

Noga reported that it is a mild ankle sprain:

Ramírez had hit a single and stole a base against Toronto Blue Jays starter Chris Bassitt in his first at-bat.
The infielder, for obvious reasons, is the single most important player on the Guardians’ roster, and can’t afford to lose him for a significant period.
Fans will need to be patient and hope for the best, but if the word “mild” was used, it looks like Cleveland dodged a bullet.
Before taking the field on Friday against the Toronto Blue Jays, Ramirez was hitting .261/.312/.441 with five home runs, seven stolen bases, and a 109 wRC+.
He wasn’t lighting the world on fire, but we all know he is capable of going on a multi-week tear.
Let’s all hope he can be back soon and continue showing the best of his talent to the world.
