The Cleveland Guardians have already opened the doors of their training camp in Arizona.
They are already stretching their arms, exercising, and performing light hitting and fielding drills.
They will open the season on March 28 in the Oakland Coliseum, against the Athletics.
All eyes, however, are set on April 8.
That is the day the Guardians will host their home opener against the Chicago White Sox, at Progressive Field.
There is one thing complicating logistics, though: a total solar eclipse that will turn the whole city dark in the afternoon, a little bit past 3 p.m. ET.
It’s an extremely rare occurrence that requires some special planning, too.
The Guards had made the date official for the home opener, but not the time.
Until Thursday.
“First pitch for the home opener: 5:10pm. Gates will open at 2pm, right around when the eclipse begins (it’ll peak at 3:13ish),” Guardians insider Zack Meisel tweeted.

This means people in the stadium will be able to watch two spectacles in the same day and at the same venue: Progressive Field.
Between 2 and 3 p.m. ET, they will get to enjoy something unique.
Then, at 5:10 p.m. ET, the play ball voice will be heard and baseball will officially return to Cleveland.
What a day it will be.
