The Cleveland Guardians have an elite bullpen.
They are flawed in virtually every other department and unit, but their relief corps are still among the best in baseball.
They could get even better when they finally deem relief pitching prospect Andrew Walters ready to be called up.
Originally expected to be part of the roster for Opening Day, he picked up a shoulder injury in spring training that halted his build-up process.
After being shut down for a few days, he returned to Cactus League action but was sent down to start the year so he could accumulate valuable innings in Triple-A Columbus.
He has done that, and his arm looks in shape.
After another appearance for the Clippers on Wednesday, he is trending toward a call-up whenever there is a spot in Cleveland’s bullpen.
“Cleveland #Guardians 24yr old RHP relief prospect Andrew Walters fanned a pair of Worcester batters today tossing a scoreless inning of work for Triple-A Columbus. Line – 1.0(IP) 0H 0R 0ER 1BB 2SO (21 Pitches 11 Strikes). 2025: 3.2(IP) 1H 0R 0ER 4BB 6SO 0.00 ERA,” Guardians Prospective posted on X.

The only blemish in Walters’ Triple-A performance so far has been walks.
He has been a bit wild, with four bases on balls in 3.2 frames, but it’s part of the process.
He is extremely hard to hit and the numbers show it.
Walters impressed in a brief, but meaningful MLB stint last year, tossing 8.2 scoreless innings and allowing just a single hit in the process.
He then made the postseason roster and was a fixture there, too.
The right-hander stands to fine-tune his control a bit but could be an option for the Guardians very soon.
