The Cleveland Guardians haven’t gotten off to a strong start to the season.
They’re just 4-6 for the year, and while it’s still early to sound the alarms, even their once-stellar bullpen and closer have struggled this season.
With that in mind, some have floated the idea of moving on from aging veterans and either making a big splash in the trade market or replenishing the team with young talent.
Needless to say, that has put 39-year-old Carlos Santana at the center of multiple trade rumors.
However, Bruce Drennan just doesn’t see that happening.
In the latest edition of his show, Drennan acknowledged that Santana’s defensive prowess was just too important for Stephen Vogt’s team, and he expects him to hit around .250 this season.

Santana is one of the most beloved and respected players in franchise history, and it would be a shame to see him leave town yet again.
He’s hitting .289 for the season, and he just hit his first home run of the season.
The start of the year hasn’t been ideal for the Guardians, but the MLB season is a long grind.
This is a marathon, not a sprint, and there’s no need to move away from the plan so early in the campaign.
Hopefully, this will be the last stop in Santana’s remarkable career.
He’s earned the right to walk away on his own terms, and, more importantly, he’s earned the right to retire as a member of this organization.
