The Cleveland Guardians need to do something to fix their offensive woes.
They’re not far behind in the AL Wild Card race, and while the Detroit Tigers have sat atop the division from the beginning of the season, they’re still not out of reach.
Notably, plenty of this team’s success – or lack thereof – will come from their outfield and whether they can finally shake off their slump and start contributing on offense.
Considering that, team analyst Jack O’Rourke claimed that they might have to make some roster moves for that to happen.
Talking on “The BIG Factor,” O’Rourke stated that the team needed to call up star OF prospect Chase DeLauter to salvage their season:
“I really think it’d be Johnathan Rodriguez who goes down, you call up [Chase] DeLauter,” O’Rourke said.
The Guards need to option JRod and call up Chase DeLauter. #GuardsBall
"Lane & Nolan in center, Angie & CDL in right. It just makes sense."

That does make some sense, as they would have four suitable options to fill two positions.
That kind of competition could and should also bring out the best in everybody.
Nevertheless, as stellar a prospect as DeLauter is, he still needs to prove that he can stay healthy.
He was always projected to be called up at some point this season, but injuries have once again stalled his development.
From a talent standpoint, it’s hard to argue that DeLauter wouldn’t give this team a massive boost, but it takes more than just talent to make it in the Majors.
Even so, whatever the case, chances are that we’ll get to watch him take the plate at some point in the season.
