Sometimes, during a very long baseball season, the schedule provides a perfect opportunity for some team bonding. The Cleveland Guardians found themselves in such a situation on Thursday, and they took full advantage of it.
After a seven-game homestand, the Guardians had an off day before embarking on a road trip. The first stop is against the Toronto Blue Jays, and it just so happens another Cleveland team was in town for a big game.
The Cleveland Cavaliers were playing Game 3 of the first round of the 2026 NBA Playoffs against the Toronto Raptors. So, multiple Guardians players found their way to take in the action.
Jose Ramirez and Steven Kwan were just two of those watching the game at Scotiabank Arena.
“It’s not just Jose Ramirez and Steven Kwan: looks like pretty much all the Guardians are at the Cavs playoff game tonight,” Mason Horodyski posted on X.

According to Joe Vardon of The Athletic, it is the first time both of the Cleveland teams are playing in the same city at the same time during the NBA playoffs since 2016. That date should resonate with both fan bases, as that year, the Cavaliers won the NBA championship, and the Guardians franchise made it to the World Series.
Unfortunately, the good fortune did not rub off on the Cavs, at least on this night, as they lost 126-104. They still hold a 2-1 lead in the best-of-7 series, with Game 4 in Toronto on Sunday afternoon, at the same time the Guardians will be playing the Blue Jays.
First, the Guardians will face the Blue Jays on Friday night, with ace Gavin Williams on the mound against Max Scherzer. So far this season, Williams has been one of the best pitchers in baseball, while Scherzer is a veteran on his way to the Baseball Hall of Fame.
On Saturday afternoon, Joey Cantillo will oppose Kevin Gausman. On Sunday, struggling Slade Cecconi will look to get his first win of the season, facing Dylan Cease.
It is unknown if any of the Cavaliers will make their way to Rogers Centre to take in a ballgame over the next two days, but hopefully, both teams will leave Canada with victories in their pockets.
