The Cleveland Guardians have to be patient to reap what they’re sowing.
The Luis L. Ortiz deal might not look good right now, but it could in a couple of years from now.
That’s all because of Josh Hartle.
As pointed out by Brendan Kantz on X, Hartle has been the most dominant hurler in all of professional baseball for more than a month now.
#Guardians No. 25 prospect LHP Josh Hartle in 6 starts since 7/12:
– 31.0 IP
– 12 H
– 0 ER
– 28 K
– 11 BB
– 0.00 ERA
– 0.74 WHIP
– .117 AVGHe is the ONLY starting pitcher in ALL of professional baseball with a 0.00 ERA in that span (min. 25 IP). 🤯#Guardsball pic.twitter.com/XtFZCF3lgt

Hartle dominated again on Saturday night.
The 22-year-old tossed six scoreless innings to continue his hot streak of six outings without allowing an earned run.
Besides leading all MiLB pitchers in ERA (0.00) during that span, he’s also tied for the most wins (5).
He’s also third in opposing batting average (.117).
He’s one of just two pitchers in the minors to log at least 10 wins, 100 strikeouts, and an opposing batting average below .200.
The other, RHP Yorman Gomez, is also a part of the Guardians’ farm system.
Hartle made his way to the Guardians as part of the Ortiz trade.
The Pittsburgh Pirates took him with the No. 83 selection in last year’s draft after logging an 11-2 record with a 2.81 ERA in more than 100 innings in college.
Fortunately for the Guardians, he struggled mightily in his brief time with the Pirates, but he’s clearly trending in the right direction now.
Standing at 6-foot-6, the southpaw has the physical tools to be an innings eater at the next level, and he should be a name to keep a close eye on for years to come.
