From June 26 to July 6, the Cleveland Guardians lost 10 consecutive contests and scored a total of 15 runs, an average of just 1.5 per game.
That 10-game stretch included five shutout losses and illustrated why offense is Cleveland’s biggest need heading to the second half.
However, even though the Guardians are in a delicate position when it comes to postseason hopes, it’s fair to point out that they have shown marked improvement in the last two games.
They won on Monday and Tuesday vs. the Houston Astros, and have scored 17 runs in the process.
You don’t need to be a math genius to know that’s more than their previous 10 games combined.

On Tuesday night, the Guardians scored 10 runs on eight hits and belted three home runs: one from Jose Ramirez, one from Brayan Rocchio, and the dagger in the top of the tenth inning with the game tied: an Angel Martinez grand slam against Josh Hader to make the game 10-6.

They managed to score six runs off starter Hunter Brown, the owner of a brilliant 2.21 ERA for the season.
To be fair, Rocchio has been one of the reasons behind the turnaround.
The much-maligned infielder has returned from a recent demotion to Triple-A hitting extra-base hits left and right.
If he can show any kind of offensive consistency, there is light at the end of the tunnel for Cleveland.
They still have a long way to go even to reach .500 (they are 42-48 at the moment), but there is some hope and as long as that’s the case, they will have a pulse.
