The Cleveland Guardians need every single win they can get right now.
That might sound like an obvious statement that applies to every team, and it would be fair, but the Guardians are fighting for their playoff lives at this point.
That’s why it was so refreshing to see them get the job done even when their best players weren’t at their best.
As pointed out by Guardians Prospective on X, Steven Kwan and Jose Ramirez didn’t have a good series against the Chicago White Sox:
“Cleveland #Guardians sweep the White Sox with Kwan and Ramirez going (2-20) at the plate with zero runs driven in,” per Guardians Prospective.

Of course, the White Sox are one of the worst teams in all of baseball, so things won’t be as easy for this team going forward.
Even so, it’s hard to think this team would’ve been able to win many games with their two best players combining for two hits over a three-game span, and it was nice to see them being able to pull off this sweep regardless.
Granted, it’s also hard to imagine Kwan and Ramirez will continue to struggle for much longer; they’re just too good to keep this up for the long run.
The Guardians are still in the race to make the playoffs not only as a wild-card team, but even as a divisional champion.
They’re currently just 6.5 games behind the AL Central-leading Detroit Tigers, and they still have six games against them this season.
It won’t be easy, and they will most definitely need Kwan and Ramirez to return to their usual ways, but the fact that they still have a chance is remarkable.
