The Cleveland Guardians thrived down the stretch again.
It took them a while, but they eventually got to the Washington Nationals’ shaky bullpen.
Notably, they did so by posting their best inning of the young season.
As pointed out by Tim Stebbins on X, the Guardians actually sent 13 batters to the plate in the sixth inning.

They scored eight runs on six hits, which included five singles and one double.
They also got three walks and one hit by pitch.
It was the most runs Stephen Vogt’s team has scored in a single inning this season.
The Guardians scored 24 of their 26 runs after the fifth inning in their three-game series in the nation’s capital.
Needless to say, going against one of the league’s most inconsistent bullpens had plenty to do with that, but there’s still plenty of merit in staying even-keeled and taking care of business down the stretch.
The Guardians are now 22-15 for the season, and they keep creeping closer to the AL Central-leading Detroit Tigers.
Stephen Vogt’s team is just 1.5 games behind the divisional leaders, but they can’t rest on their laurels with the Kansas City Royals just a half game behind them.
They will now head back home to Progressive Field after being on the road for the past couple of series.
They will send Gavin Williams (2-2, 5.06 ERA) to the mound to square off against the struggling Aaron Nola (1-5, 4.61 ERA) in a three-game series against the Philadelphia Phillies before hosting the Milwaukee Brewers for three more games.
