The Cleveland Guardians are playing their best baseball of the season.
As a long grind with ebbs and flows, many teams have learned that it’s not about how you start the season as much as how you close it out.
That’s why fans should be thrilled with what the team is doing as it chases an AL Wild Card berth.
The Guardians are now riding a six-game winning streak.
More than that, they’re also nine games above .500.
Notably, both of those marks are season highs.
“The Guardians just won their sixth-straight game and are 9 games above .500, both season highs,” Al Pawlowski wrote on X.

After an extended slump in June, it seemed that the Guardians didn’t stand a chance of making the playoffs.
Then, losing pitchers Luis L. Ortiz and Emmanuel Clase to an MLB gambling investigation made everything more complicated.
Losing a starting pitcher and an All-Star closer would be a blow to any team’s morale, especially at that point of the season.
Fortunately, the Guardians aren’t like most teams.
If anything, it made them rally together, and they’re now reaping what they sowed.
Of course, they’re going to lose a game or two from now until the end of the season.
But after everything they’ve been through, they just have to continue to overcome every challenge that comes their way.
The team is trending in the right direction at the ideal time, and the Guardians could be very dangerous if they get to the postseason.
