The Cleveland Guardians continue to add young talent to their ranks.
As reported by Guardians Prospective on X, they’re on the verge of landing yet another prospect.
Apparently, they’re the favorites to sign center fielder prospect Kayden Leer out of Oranjestad, Aruba.
Per the report, the young outfielder is currently training at both Fortuna Training Facility in Florida and with Serra’s Cubbies Academy in the Dominican Republic.

However, he won’t be eligible to sign until the 1/15/28 International signing day.
Of course, this isn’t much of a surprise, since Leer had already committed to signing with the Guardians a couple of months ago.
The Guardians are shifting their approach to the farm system.
They usually focused on finding and developing middle infielders with a knack for contact and a lack of power.
Now, they’re trying to address their glaring holes in the outfield by going after big-bodied, physical specimens who can rake the baseball out of the park.
Granted, it will be a long while before Leer makes his way to the majors, and some of the younger players never even get that opportunity.
But even if he doesn’t climb his way up the ladder with the Guardians organization, this type of signing is as encouraging as it is telling of the team’s new approach and shift in their mindset.
It was also evident with some of the additions they made during the MLB Draft, and it shouldn’t be long before they start reaping what they sowed with those moves.
