The Cleveland Guardians continue to be in the mix for young international prospects.
The organization is always looking to add talent, and its international scouting department is notable in the sport.
With that in mind, it’s not a surprise to hear that, according to Guardians Prospective, Cleveland is the favorite to sign catcher Carlos Ordonez.
The Venezuela native is training at Future Stars Baseball Academy and isn’t eligible to sign until the 2027 international signing day.

Needless to say, a lot can happen from now until then, from injuries, a setback in his development, or another team swooping in and taking the lead for his services.
Yet there are plenty of reasons to feel optimistic about the Guardians’ chances to sign him, considering how much success they’ve had with their development system over the past several years.
There are many factors that can have a major impact on a young player’s career.
The Guardians usually preach patience with their prospects, sometimes to a fault, but they take pride in doing what’s best for the player, not just for the organization.
As a small-market team, they know they can’t keep up with some of the biggest spenders in the game, so the best way to compete at the highest level is to find and develop the best talent they are able to discover.
