The Cleveland Guardians have plenty of talent right now.
Their farm system is always one of the most proficient in the game, and they have multiple prospects ready to make an impact in the majors.
Nevertheless, a team can never have too many young players with All-Star potential.
With that in mind, Jeff Ellis of Locked On Guardians urged the team to make a big splash and find a way to trade for St. Louis Cardinals shortstop Masyn Winn.
It’s hard to imagine that the Cardinals will be even slightly interested in parting with the talented 23-year-old.
On top of that, he might not be the type of player the Guardians need.
If anything, they have a logjam of middle infielders.
Granted, there’s a chance that they will try to trade Arias and/or Brayan Rocchio this offseason.
They have utility man Daniel Schneemann, and Juan Brito should be in for an extended look next season.
There’s also Angel Martinez, and they fully expect No. 1 overall pìck Travis Bazzana to make his way to the majors at some point, maybe even before the All-Star break.
The Guardians need to be aggressive and acquire more offense this offseason.
Whether they’ll target a player like Winn remains to be seen, but they might be better off looking for help in the outfield instead.
