While the Guardians were busy rallying past the Houston Astros on Tuesday night at Progressive Field, one of Cleveland’s depth pieces was doing something worth paying attention to down in the minor leagues.
Gabriel Arias is heating up. The 26-year-old infielder has been on the injured list since April 7 with a left hamstring strain, sidelining him right as the Guardians began navigating the early portion of their 2026 schedule. But while he has been working his way back to health, Arias has been building a streak at the minor league level that deserves a closer look.
“Arias collected two more hits tonight and now has six straight multi hit games!

Six straight multi-hit games. A .577 average over that stretch. A .593 on base percentage. Nine RBI, four stolen bases, and two home runs across 26 at-bats. Those are not rehab numbers. Those are the numbers of a player who is locked in and swinging the bat as well as anyone in the organization right now.
His 2026 big league numbers before the injury showed some early promise. In 30 at-bats, Arias hit .200 with two home runs, four RBI, and an OPS of .683. Not a jaw-dropping line, but he was starting to get hot before getting injured.
The hamstring injury put a hard stop to that early momentum, but if the minor league performance over the past week is any indication, Arias is coming back healthy and with his timing fully intact.
For the Guardians, the return of a healthy Arias would give Stephen Vogt another option to work with. Cleveland’s infield depth has been tested at various points this season, and having a versatile right-handed bat who can step in at multiple positions without missing a beat is exactly the kind of depth that matters over a 162-game grind.
The Guardians have not announced a specific timeline for Arias to rejoin the active roster, but based on what he has been doing at the minor league level, it is hard to imagine that return being far off.
