The Cleveland Guardians are coming off an unexpected sweep of the Houston Astros to open the week.
Before that, however, they lost 10 straight games, so they aren’t exactly the most reliable team in baseball.
Still, the players are doing the best they can under the circumstances.
The Guards start a weekend series vs. the Chicago White Sox on Friday and need pitching reinforcements to help them navigate through some innings.
They called up an old friend who has done nothing but dominate during his time with the big league club.
“Nic Enright is the Guardians’ 27th player today,” Guardians insider Tim Stebbins posted on X.

Enright has put up an excellent 2.08 ERA in 13 innings in the majors this year.
He has given the Guardians not only effectiveness, but also some much-needed length in his relief appearances.
He has also been fantastic in Triple-A, as his 1.38 ERA in 13 frames indicates.
Enright is slowly positioning himself to get more run in one of the best bullpens in the league.
With hard work, talent, and perseverance, he has managed to overcome adversity in recent years and become a major leaguer.
He could be a crucial second-half contributor on a roster that could potentially compete even if they do sell some of their assets before the trade deadline.
Players like Enright make the Guardians’ staff what it is: a deep and talented collection of pitchers ready to help when needed.
To truly reach their ceiling as a team, however, the Guardians desperately need to add some offensive talent either via trade or internal promotions.
