The Cleveland Guardians saw how fate, injuries, and weather conditions changed their entire plans for the upcoming week.
Between Shane Bieber going down with an elbow injury and Sunday’s postponed game due to rain, the Guards have had to alter their pitching plans for this week’s games.
Mandy Bell, who covers the team for MLB.com, shared all the details.
“With today’s rainout, Triston McKenzie will now start the home opener tomorrow. Logan Allen will go on Tuesday and Tanner Bibee on Wednesday,” she tweeted.

McKenzie, perhaps the worst pitcher of the Guardians’ young season so far, will get the chance to redeem himself in front of his fans against a light-hitting White Sox lineup.
Injuries severely limited his availability and performance last year, and he conceded four earned runs in 3.1 innings in his first outing this year.
Still, when healthy, he is a quality arm capable of finishing with an ERA in the high 2.00s or the low 3.00s.
He is actually the one pitcher who has proven he can return a similar performance to that of Bieber while throwing nearly 200 frames in a season.
On Tuesday, the Guards will send Logan Allen and his 2.31 ERA (in 11.2 frames) to the mound.
He has been performing way better than anticipated and remains an important piece of the pitching puzzle.
For Wednesday’s game, Cleveland will send the supremely talented Tanner Bibee to the mound, who has a 3.86 ERA through a couple of outings.
The Guards have full confidence in that trio and expect them to thrive against the weak White Sox offense.
