The Winter Meetings are officially here, and the Hot Stove is about to heat up even more.
After Jacob deGrom inked a five-year deal with the Texas Rangers on Friday night, much more activity is expected to follow.
The Cleveland Guardians are one of the teams that is expected to be busy in the next few days.
For quite some time, the American League Central champions have been linked to Oakland Athletics star catcher Sean Murphy.
Cleveland is in need of a full-time catcher with Austin Hedges now a free agent.
On Twitter, a Guardians analyst called for the team’s front office to go big and pull off a deal for the former Gold Glover.

Guardians In Play For Murphy
Murphy of course earned his Gold Glove Award in 2021.
If the Guardians are to acquire him, they will be receiving not only a big bat for the middle of their lineup, but also a solid defensive catcher.
At the plate, the 28-year-old hit for a .250 average and hit 18 home runs, driving in a total of 66 runs during the regular season.
Murphy caught 116 games for the A’s this season.
The star catcher made just eight errors on the season, helped turn four double plays, and caught 19 runners attempting to steal a base.
He also had a fielding percentage of .991.
After a 92-win season and a trip to the ALDS, the Guardians seem intent on improving their roster for 2023 in hopes of a deeper October run.
Adding Murphy as their new catcher would be a good place to start.
