The Cleveland Guardians got back in business on Friday night, after a well-deserved All-Star break.
They dominated the San Diego Padres and shut them out 7-0 at Progressive Field.
When the Guards are playing in Cleveland this year, they have been almost unbeatable and proved that, once again, on Friday against the Friars.
The league’s official Twitter account posted a revealing stat when it comes to the Guards’ domination at home.
“The @CleGuardians improve to 20 games over .500 (31-11) at Progressive Field!” they tweeted.

That’s the best home record in MLB, and it has fueled a fantastic season for the team.
Being almost unbeatable at home and playing decently on the road has allowed the Guardians to boast, as of Saturday, the best record in the American League.
To make matters even better, 39 of the Guards’ remaining 66 games will be at Progressive Field.
They have a fantastic opportunity to not only secure their place in the postseason but also do it with home-field advantage in important October matchups.
But it’s still premature to think about that: for now, let’s all marvel at how competitive Cleveland is in front of their fans.
They are answering the call as well, setting attendance records, and supporting the team in its journey.
On Friday, Tanner Bibee contributed 5.2 scoreless innings and All-Star utilityman David Fry had three hits in the winning effort.
The Guards’ elite bullpen secured the victory, and Jose Ramirez sparked a six-run eighth inning with his timely hitting.
As usual, everybody contributed and the Guards started off their second half on the right foot.
