Born in Columbus, Ohio, former MLB outfielder Matt Angle had a very solid college career at Ohio State in the mid-2000s.
You could say with confidence that the local kid did his best to bring joy to people in the state.
Now, after acting as a coach in his alma mater since 2018, Angle will get a chance to help the Cleveland Guardians organization.
It feels almost like it was meant to be.
“Former Ohio State standout and coach Matt Angle has accepted a position with the Cleveland #Guardians to become the hitting coach for the Triple-A Columbus Clippers for the 2025 season,” Guardians Prospective posted on X.

Angle, who has accumulated enough experience in the hitting department through the years, will now have a direct hand in the development of many Guardians prospects.
For example, he will be working with the likes of Chase DeLauter, Johnathan Rodriguez, C.J. Kayfus, Cooper Ingle, and more.
There is also a chance he even gets to work with top prospect Travis Bazzana at some point this year.
Angle, who played a handful of games for the Baltimore Orioles in 2011 and hit .177 with a homer and seven RBI, will get the chance of his life.
He knows a thing or two about hitting, appearing on Ohio State’s statistical leaderboards in several categories such as batting average, hits, runs, and stolen bases; plus his contributions as a coach.
He is an avid video analyst, which will come in handy for the Guardians’ Triple-A team.
It’s a nice hire by Cleveland and for their prospects in general.
