The 2025 MLB Draft started on Sunday with the first three rounds plus the Competitive Balance picks.
The event ended on Monday with the remaining rounds, from the fourth to the 20th.
The Cleveland Guardians, of course, took advantage of the chance to add many potential contributors for the future.
On Sunday, they focused heavily on powerful bats, seeing how their current MLB team struggles to score more than just a few runs per game.
They took slugger Jace LaViolette with the 27th pick of the first round and added some interesting bats after that.
On Monday, however, they changed their philosophy a bit, focusing on pitching.
The team posted a picture with their Day 2 selections, with 11 pitchers among the 17 picks.

It’s important to point out, however, that their first two Day 2 picks were also hitters: Ole Miss’ infielder Luke Hill and Vanderbilt’s first baseman Riley Nelson.
From that point forward, the Guardians took 11 pitchers with their next 15 picks: Nelson Keljo, Will McCausland, Ryan Prager, Harrison Bodendorf, Ryan DeSanto, Aaron Savary, Evan Chrest, Luke Fernandez, Zane Petty, Derek Munoz, and Vaughn Neckar.
They selected four lefties and seven righties to populate their already solid farm system with plenty of high-upside pitching.
Of these names, Keljo and Fernandez might be the ones with the highest ceiling.
Keljo can be an impact fastball-changeup reliever, while Fernandez offers an intriguing strikeout-heavy profile.
Bodendorf is one of the more intriguing arms of the class, with a 6’5” frame, a low-90s fastball, and a funky, deceptive delivery.
The Guardians hope some of these arms can pan out and help the big league club get outs.
