It is no secret that the Cleveland Guardians rotation is their weakest link.
Only Ben Lively and Tanner Bibee have an ERA in the 3.00s.
The rest of them, namely Carlos Carrasco, Logan Allen, Triston McKenzie, and Xzavion Curry have been much worse than that, and Gavin Williams recently returned from injury.
McKenzie is in Triple-A working on his game, and now Allen has joined him in Columbus as the Guards make room on the roster for a new acquisition.
“The Guardians have optioned Logan Allen to Triple-A in order to make room for Spencer Howard,” Guardians insider Mandy Bell tweeted.

Allen made his most recent start for Cleveland on Saturday against the San Francisco Giants.
He allowed two runs in 4.1 innings, conceding three runs and four walks in the process.
Even though he struck out nine, he allowed too much traffic on the bases and left his ERA at an unfathomable 5.67.
The Guardians had a relatively long leash for him because he was so good last year, but they feel the time has come to make some moves and have Allen hit the reset button at Triple-A.
It’s unclear whether the newly acquired Howard will take his spot in the rotation, but he will have a role from the go.
As for Allen, he needs to miss more bats to establish himself in the bigs, as he has allowed 100 hits in 87.1 frames so far in 2024.
Home runs (18 surrendered to this point) are also a big problem.
Cleveland would love to see him addressing those issues for a few weeks before potentially re-inserting him in the staff.
