The Cleveland Guardians are one of the hottest teams in baseball.
Some people in baseball were confident that Cleveland would crumble after its hot start and eventually collapse in the standings.
They are waiting no more: the regular season is about to end, and the Guardians have a 92-67 record, second-best in the American League.
They didn’t collapse.
Quite the opposite, in fact: they have a chance to finish out the season with the best record in the junior circuit and will, at worst, finish with the second-best.
A big part of their success is directly associated with the traits and skills of first-year manager Stephen Vogt.
Vogt was tasked with the huge responsibility of replacing an all-time great skipped, Terry Francona, and he hasn’t disappointed.
His own players continually praise him, and backup catcher Austin Hedges is no exception.
“Hedges on Vogt: That guy is a leader of men. To have him up top leading us, it’s a blessing. We’ve had 1 of the greatest managers in the history of baseball for a long time, and I love Terry Francona with all my heart, but this is probably the best year of managing I’ve ever seen,” Guardians writer Chris Assenheimer posted on X.

These two guys know a thing or two about baseball.
Both were, or are in Hedges’ case, savvy catchers with plenty of knowledge about the game and how to manage and lead a group of men.
Hedges says that his skipper is a leader of men and compares him with the best manager ever to wear a Guardians uniform.
Hedges admired Vogt for who he is, how he leads and what he has achieved.
Together, they will try to deliver the first World Series title for the city since 1948.
