The Cleveland Guardians have the best record in the American League at 57-33, a feat that very few saw coming prior to this season.
Cleveland has just a few games left before the All-Star break, but the team has already made franchise history ahead of next week’s festivities in Texas.
It was noted by Luke Potosky on X that the Guardians’ 57 wins are the most in franchise history before the All-Star break, which began in 1933, and only the 1995, 1954, and 1999 teams have a higher pre-ASG winning percentage than the 2024 team.
The Cleveland Guardians now have 57 wins, their most victories before the All-Star Break since the ASG began in 1933.
Currently, only the 1995 (.687), 1954 (.675) & 1999 teams (.644) have a higher pre-ASG W% than the 2024 team (.633, 5G left).#ForTheLand | @CleGuardians pic.twitter.com/bIxjK5aI9d

The Guardians have been treading water over the last couple of weeks since their 7-game losing streak ended, but have five favorable matchups left before the All-Star break to add to this record and potentially head to Texas with over 60 wins.
The Minnesota Twins and Kansas City Royals are making the AL Central race a fun one and sit 5.5 and 8.5 games back, respectively.
Cleveland got off to a 17-6 start and hasn’t looked back, perhaps most impressively avoiding any losing streaks longer than three games so far.
The schedule gets a little tougher out of the break, so Cleveland will need to rest up before facing the San Diego Padres, Philadelphia Phillies, Baltimore Orioles, and New York Yankees before September, as well as matchups with the division rival Twins and Royals.
It will be interesting to see how the Guardians capitalize on this hot start at the trade deadline, as the team has a clear need to add a starting pitcher yet will have plenty of competition out on the open market.
