The Cleveland Guardians have been up and down this season.
Stephen Vogt’s team has alternated ice-cold stretches with red-hot streaks.
That’s not usually the sign of a contending team, but judging by how good they’ve been when they’ve been at their best, it’s way too early to sound the alarms.
With that in mind, team legend Carlos Baerga shared his thoughts on the team after 46 games, and he pointed out that, despite the inconsistency, three players have stood out from the rest of the pack: Daniel Schneemann, Gabriel Arias, and Angel Martinez (via Carlos Baerga Show):
“Impressed me the most? I think [Daniel] Schneemann. He’s been unbelievable. Gabriel Arias, plays second base, now he moved to shortstop—he’s been playing unbelievable. Angel Martinez, he’s been an angel for us. He’s been amazing,” Baerga said.

The Guardians are 25-21 after 46 games.
They fell to third place in the American League Central Division, behind the Detroit Tigers and Minnesota Twins.
Notably, they will have a massive opportunity to narrow that gap, as they’ll face the Twins and Tigers in back-to-back series.
Needless to say, this week will be a huge test of Stephen Vogt’s team’s character.
This team has shown that it has what it takes to compete with the best teams in the league, and these are the kinds of games they need to step up and make a statement.
Failing to do so will only sink them further in the standings, and given how good the AL Central has been this season, you definitely don’t want to be left behind.
This week could make or break the narrative around this team, even though there’s still plenty of baseball to be played this season.
