The Cleveland Guardians had high hopes and expectations for Travis Bazzana this season.
He was projected to be called up to the Majors at one point in the season.
And even though he will be out for a while, former Guardians star Carlos Baerga still thinks that could happen.
In the latest edition of his show, he predicted that the Guardians would give Bazzana an opportunity since they don’t have that much firepower in their offense:
“It could maybe happen this year,” Baerga predicted, referring to when Bazzana could potentially make an appearance in the Majors. “But now, that’s set back. He can go for next year, but, you know what, if we need somebody to help us out with the hitting, they’re gonna make any move.”

Bazzana has been out for the past week with a right internal oblique strain, and he’s expected to miss at least two months because of the injury.
The Australian infielder had been on a roll with Double-A Akron.
In 33 games this season, he slashed 252/.362/.433 with four home runs, 17 RBI, and eight stolen bases.
He also had a .904 OPS in 51 plate appearances in 12 games in May, and he was just starting to get hot.
That was on the heels of slashing .238/.369/.396 in 27 games at High-A during his first season as a pro.
A left-handed hitter with a sky-high upside, Bazzana became the first Australian-born player to be taken with the No. 1 pick in the MLB Draft.
The Guardians didn’t hesitate to take him after watching him slash .360/.497/.660 in three years at Oregon State.
Hopefully, this will only be a minor setback for a major comeback, as he’s still considered to be the best prospect in the organization, and they could certainly use some help at the plate when it matters the most.
