The Cleveland Guardians’ season is collapsing right before everyone’s eyes.
Their win on Monday finally interrupted a ten-game losing streak, yet the team is a mediocre 41-48 heading into Tuesday’s action.
It’s not a secret that despite their seven-run outburst on Monday, the offense has been the main culprit of the 2025 struggles, ranking 27th in baseball in runs scored.
Former Guardians pitcher and current analyst Jensen Lewis discussed the current situation of the squad.
He said that it’s clear Cleveland is regressing after last year’s heroic postseason run.
“This is what regression looks like. Run differential doesn’t lie. The offense outside of Jose Ramirez and Steven Kwan is dreadful,” the BIGPLAY Cleveland Show posted on X with Lewis’ rant.

Perhaps the Guardians overachieved a bit last year by reaching the American League Championship Series, or maybe they just were a much better team than this season’s version.
It’s entirely up for debate, but the evidence shows that they are indeed regressing.
The rotation might be comparable or even slightly better in the 2025 campaign, but everything else is worse, particularly the offense.
Ramirez and Kwan have been a breath of fresh air, and without them, the Guards probably would be among the worst squads in the junior circuit.
If you want to know if a specific team is good or bad, taking a look at the run differential, as Lewis states, helps.
Just three American League teams have a worse mark than Cleveland’s -57.
It has been that kind of year for the struggling Guardians.
