The Cleveland Guardians have had a relatively quiet offseason.
Other than re-signing Shane Bieber and bringing back Carlos Santana to replace Josh Naylor after he was traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks, the team has focused on improving its already dominant bullpen.
It was also a good offseason for Terry Francona, the former Guardians manager who the Cincinnati Reds hired to fill the same role.
However, he was not the only former Guardians manager to land a new gig.
The Tulsa Drillers, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers, shared on X that they have hired former Guardians manager Eric Wedge as their new manager.

Wedge was Cleveland’s manager for seven seasons from 2003 through 2009 before leaving and assuming the same role with the Seattle Mariners for three years from 2011 through 2013.
Wedge will be Tulsa’s first new manager in seven seasons after Scott Hennessey left the team to lead the Oklahoma City Comets earlier in the offseason.
The former Guardians manager won AL Manager of the Year in 2007 when he led Cleveland to 96 wins and a run all the way to Game 7 of the ALCS.
It’s a huge acquisition for the Dodgers, who continue to dominate the baseball world by adding a former Manager of the Year to their minor league system.
It’s great that Wedge is back in the mix and we’ll see if he has any intentions of eventually taking over a Major League club again at some point.
