The Cleveland Guardians have a special talent in their organization.
Unfortunately, it takes much more than talent and athleticism to get the job done in the major leagues.
That’s why so many people have been worried about Chase DeLauter and his never-ending injury woes.
With that in mind, former Guardians catcher Chris Gimenez claimed, that as much as the team wants DeLauter to get called up, they need to see that he can stay healthy first.
“I hate to say [Chase DeLauter] kind of proved everybody right. It’s been his career so far. He just has not been able to stay healthy. Trust me, I truly think Cleveland wants him to be here. There are just certain progressions that he has to get through and prove to the organization that he can overcome before they put him up here. You’re not going to throw him up here and have him hurt the second day. I think this is just one of those stepping stones he’s got to figure out. He’s got to prove he can stay on the field before he gets a chance up here,” Gimenez said, via The BIG Factor.

DeLauter was selected in the first round of the 2022 MLB Draft despite some doubts about his health.
So far, he’s done nothing but confirm those concerns.
He’s dealt with multiple injuries to different parts of his body, and it just feels like he can’t stay off the injured list.
Yet, DeLauter has performed at a high level when he’s been on the field.
He is currently dealing with yet another injury, and judging by how he’s fared in the past couple of years with multiple ailments, the Guardians could choose to err on the side of caution and not call him up this season, even if he’s healthy.
