The Cleveland Guardians won a close game against the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday.
When you have Emmanuel Clase as your closer, every lead is secure.
Even one-run leads.
The guy is as close to an automatic clean inning as anyone in the majors and proved that once again on Tuesday with a nine-pitch save.
Clase reached 30 saves in the season and continues to climb up the franchise’s historical ranking for the category.
“The Guardians are 60-40 after 100 games. Emmanuel Clase is all alone in 2nd for career saves in Cleveland’s franchise history, passing Bob Wickman with 140. He’s just 10 saves away from the all-time lead. Clase is 26,” Guardians reporter Hayden Grove tweeted.

The Guardians have won 60 games, and Clase has locked down 30 of them.
That’s incredibly impressive, as is the fact he is already second in franchise history in saves at 26 years old.
With 140 career saves, he just left Wickman behind and is now shooting at the all-time Guardians record.
That one is held by the highly successful Cody Allen, who dominated the Guards bullpen in the mid-to-late 2010s.
Allen has 149, which puts Clase in a position to take over the franchise lead before the end of the 2024 campaign.
Clase might just be the best closer in baseball and boasts a mind-blowing 1.76 ERA in his Guardians career and 1.80 overall.
To think there was a time, a few months ago, that Clase was reportedly on the trade block.
It would take a huge haul of prospects and MLB-ready players to pry him away from Cleveland.
He has been a huge reason behind the Guardians successful 2024 season.
