When outfielder Steven Kwan went down with a hamstring injury at the beginning of May, he and his .353 batting average atop the Cleveland Guardians order was going to be impossible to replace, but David Fry has done everything he can with his extra at-bats to ensure the team doesn’t miss a beat.
Fry has been cooking and he went nuts once again in last night’s 13-7 win at the Colorado Rockies, going 3-for-5 with a 3-run homer, three runs scored, and a stolen base, and after the game fans were presented with a stat that showed just how hot Fry has been.
Bally Sports Cleveland posted a graphic about the run Fry has been on lately that showed his stats over the last 12 games where he is hitting .469 with five homers and 13 RBI to the tune of a .622 on-base percentage.

A .622 on-base percentage over the course of 12 games is absurd, and Fry has alleviated the pain from not having Kwan in the lineup so much so that even when Kwan comes back sometime this week, Fry has forced management’s hand and made himself a staple in this lineup at this point.
This has already been a career year for Fry, who debuted in the league last year with a .238 average, four homers, and 15 RBI in 101 at-bats over 57 games.
He has a comparable amount of at-bats so far this year in just 38 games, only this time he has an 1.115 OPS.
Who knows how long this hot streak will last, but if Fry can be even 70 percent of what he has been so far the rest of the season, Cleveland has a strong middle-of-the-order bat to support Josh Naylor and Jose Ramirez.
