The Cleveland Guardians needed some heroics on Saturday to get the win in Canada.
Fortunately for them, they found an unsung hero in Daniel Schneemann.
The 28-year-old utility player had the best performance of his career, blasting a solo homer in the eighth inning before securing the triumph with a go-ahead Grand Slam in the ninth.
He took full advantage of Yimi García’s steep pitch count down the stretch and got him with an absolute bomb right into the seats in the right field.
As reported by OptaSTATS on X, that made him just the second player in MLB history to have a multi-HR game on the road that included a game-winning grand slam with his team trailing and down to its final out.
Notably, the other was none other than the legendary Babe Ruth when he still played for the Boston Red Sox back on July 18, 1919.

Needless to say, every time you’re on the same list with a guy like Babe Ruth and you do something that hasn’t been done in over 100 years, you know you had a pretty good day.
This was the first grand slam of his career, and he also posted a career-high five RBI.
It was the 23rd go-ahead grand slam in the ninth inning of the Cleveland Guardians’ history, and the first since Carlos Santana had one in August 2019 at Minnesota.
The Guardians don’t boast the most power in the majors by any means, but Schneemann is definitely making the most of his extended opportunities.
