The Cleveland Guardians will turn to a new face to help their cause with the season on the line against the Detroit Tigers.
One of their top prospects is about to make his long-anticipated MLB debut.
“Guardians have Chase DeLauter in the lineup for Game 2 of the AL Wild Card Series. He becomes the first player since 2020 to make his debut in the postseason, and the sixth ever. DeLauter will bat seventh and play CF,” Mason Horodyski posted on X.

DeLauter was expected to join the Guardians at some point this season.
However, he suffered multiple injuries, and after missing almost all of the minor league season, it seemed like fans would have to wait until 2026 to see him in the majors.
The decision to call him up speaks volumes about the Guardians’ lack of offensive firepower right now.
Then again, it’s also a testament to DeLauter’s talent and how much confidence they have in him.
DeLauter is a special talent, and he’s dominated at every level when he’s been healthy enough to play.
It’s very unusual for a rookie to make his MLB debut in the postseason, which tells everything about the young potential All-Star.
A first-round pick in the 2022 MLB Draft and the No. 2 prospect in the organization (behind infielder Travis Bazzana), DeLauter has all the tools to be the face of the franchise and one of the best players in the game in no time.
Then again, he needs to prove that he can stay healthy, but for now, he just needs to have one big game to help keep the Guardians’ season alive.
