The Cleveland Guardians are the best team in baseball right now.
That may sound like a stretch, but their 5-1 record in August backs it up.
They are peaking at the right time, and people are taking notice.
Following a sweep of the New York Mets, franchise legend Carlos Baerga gushed about the Guardians.
“We went to New York. We know we’re facing a really good team, but we’ve beaten them. We’re showing everybody. Right now, I know everyone is talking about the Cleveland Guardians. I want them to keep playing the way they’re playing,” Baerga said.

It was the first time they swept a series at Citi Field.
More than that, they dominated the Mets, holding them without a hit for 14 straight innings before Juan Soto’s solo homer in the bottom of the ninth spoiled Gavin Williams’ no-hitter.
The Guardians won nine games in June and looked out of sorts long before the All-Star break.
The fact that they’re doing this without closer Emmanuel Clase is all the more impressive.
Though they didn’t bring in more help at the trade deadline, there are more than enough reasons to feel excited about recent call-up C.J. Kayfus.
If red-hot Kyle Manzardo gets more at-bats, the surging offense could be even better in the final stretch of the campaign.
The Guardians will stay on the road for a three-game series with the Chicago White Sox, and they will try to build on their momentum and gain more ground in the AL Wild Card race.
