Though it has been an eerily quiet offseason for the Cleveland Guardians as a team, a few of their individual players have been part of significant personal achievements. Those will undoubtedly lead to even more memorable moments in the coming offseasons.
Emerging prospect C.J. Kayfus recently joined the growing list of wedding-minded Guardians. Before getting to spring training in Arizona, he visited some wintry mountains first.
There, Kayfus made a big personal announcement that he had gotten engaged.
“Congratulations to Cleveland Guardians 1B/OF C.J. Kayfus on his engagement,” Guardians Prospective posted on X with a photo of the proposal.

Kayfus is the latest Guardians player to make similar news this offseason. Since November, Bo Naylor, Andrew Walters, Hunter Gaddis, Kyle Manzardo, and Parker Messick have gotten engaged. Meanwhile, Nolan Jones and Matt Festa followed through on their earlier proposals and got married.
Here’s hoping those aren’t the only rings that are in the Guardians’ future. Now, with spring training right around the corner, it’s time to bring those good vibes into the season.
The Guardians have been criticized for their lack of player acquisitions this offseason, particularly regarding their lineup. It is a valid concern after they were among the worst run-scoring teams in MLB last season.
However, Cleveland does have a plan, one that manager Stephen Vogt believes in. The Guardians expect their young hitters, a group that includes Kayfus, George Valera, Chase DeLauter, and Travis Bazzana, to do enough to give the lineup the boost it needs.
Kayfus was the first among that group to make his MLB debut, doing so in early August. He batted .220 with four home runs in 138 plate appearances over 44 games played.
He was followed by Valera, who arrived in early September, and DeLauter, a high-ceiling prospect who became one of the very few players to make his MLB debut in the postseason. Bazzana, who was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 MLB Draft, has had his much-awaited debut delayed by injury, but it could come as soon as Opening Day.
Perhaps the Guardians will have many more milestones to celebrate as the season goes along.
