The Cleveland Guardians have two bona fide stars in Jose Ramirez and Steven Kwan.
Their pitching is much better than their offense, though, and fans see it every game.
Ramirez and Kwan are excellent baseball players, good enough to build around.
The problem is that the rest of the Guardians’ supporting cast has failed to show any consistency in 2025.
That’s what Bruce Drennan explained on Saturday, stressing the importance of finding better pieces to complement J-Ram and Kwan’s talents.
“The Guardians can build around Jose Ramirez and Steven Kwan, but you have to do it with better pieces than what we have. “Hopefully these kids can realize their potential,” the Bruce Drennan Show posted on X.

Finding better players is an option, although Cleveland is not too inclined to spend in order to achieve that goal.
However, as Drennan also said, getting the ‘kids’ to realize their potential is more sustainable, even if it’s a challenge.
Bo Naylor, Angel Martinez, Brayan Rocchio, Nolan Jones, Kyle Manzardo, Daniel Schneemann, Gabriel Arias, and many other young hitters on the Guardians all have the potential to be better than what they have shown in 2025.
Getting those hitters to reach their ceiling or something close to it should actually be the Guardians’ priority, with the trade deadline and internal promotions seen as complementary actions.
You can’t ask Chase DeLauter, Juan Brito, C.J. Kayfus, or a hypothetical trade acquisition to save Cleveland’s season.
It wouldn’t be fair.
Baseball is a team sport, and because of that, efforts to improve the offense should come from multiple fronts.
