The Cleveland Guardians found plenty of success with a former player as their manager in the past couple of seasons.
Like most MLB teams, they will continue to take that approach for as long as some retired players want to stick around, especially those with a past in the organization.
With that in mind, MLB analyst Bruce Drennan pointed to Corey Kluber as a potential future pitching coach.
Talking on his show, he shared his honest thoughts on the former ace and his potential role with the organization:
“[Corey Kluber] could slide into [Carl Willis’] role. He’s got an even-keeled demeanor. He’s just a brilliant pitching mind. That’s a very real possibility if Willis hangs it up. Isn’t Willis something?” Drennan said.
"He's just a brilliant pitching mind."
Could we see Corey Kluber take over as the pitching coach if Carl Willis hangs it up? #GuardsBall

Kluber, a former perennial Cy Young award candidate and one of the best pitchers in recent franchise history, couldn’t stay away from the game for long.
He chose to return to baseball this season to serve as an assistant in the organization.
And while he didn’t have a formal role, he was obviously there to work with pitchers.
He opened up on wanting to help struggling hurlers, given his history.
Kluber looked like a bust at times, and he had to get his act together in the minors before having the stellar career he had.
Truth be told, it’s hard to think of someone better or more qualified to help young pitchers develop and veterans get their groove back.
The Guardians have one of the best pitching coaching staffs in all of baseball, and their pitchers closed out the year on a high note last season.
Hopefully, Kluber will stick around for a long time, and he’ll also get a chance to be the main guy leading the way at one point.
