Last year, when the Cleveland Guardians needed a bullpen boost in the stretch run, right-hander Andrew Walters provided it.
He pitched 8.2 scoreless frames and later conceded just one run in three postseason innings.
Then, in the spring of 2025, a shoulder issue derailed his progression and set him back, forcing him to start the season in the minor leagues.
He has been in Triple-A for a while, regaining his arm strength, command, and rhythm, but it’s safe to say he is close to his best version now.
On Tuesday night, he delivered another strong outing and keeps proving he is ready for another shot in the majors.
“Cleveland #Guardians 24yr old RHP relief prospect Andrew Walters struckout a pair of Iowa batters in a scoreless inning of work tonight for Columbus. Line – 1.0(IP) 0H 0R 0ER 0BB 2SO (15 Pitches 10 Strikes). Walters fastball topped out at 97.9 mph. 2025 season numbers: – 10.1(IP) 4H 3R 2ER 8BB 18SO 1.74 ERA,” Guardians Prospective posted on X.

His ERA is down to a solid 1.74 in 10.1 innings.
Perhaps the most impressive part of his stat line is the fact that he has fanned 18 batters so far.
His velocity is excellent, and his slider helps him get swings and misses.
He has had some minor issues with his control, as he has walked eight over those 10.1 innings.
But it hasn’t been anything to be overly concerned about.
With the Guardians calling up the likes of Matt Festa, Cody Bolton, Zak Kent, and others, maybe it’s time to give Walters another shot at winning a bullpen spot.
He showed last year that he belongs, and he is proving that his shoulder injury is firmly behind him.
