The 39-37 Cleveland Guardians still have a lot of things to decide in the upcoming weeks.
They are 8.5 games back in the race for the AL Central, but a Wild Card spot is within striking distance.
That’s if they bring in a difference-maker or two for the offense ahead of the deadline, though.
Those who follow the game have pointed out that Marcell Ozuna would make sense for Cleveland.
He has a strong track record of elite performance and is hitting a cool .253/.378/.418 with 11 home runs, 40 RBI, and a 125 wRC+ as of Monday morning.
If you analyze it strictly from a production standpoint, then there is no question the three-time All-Star would improve the Guardians’ lineup considerably.
But other things need to be analyzed, too.
We will get there in a minute, but it’s fair to say that Carlos Baerga and Gabb Goudy are not fans of the fit.
“I don’t think that would be a fit; we already have 3 DHs on the roster,” Goudy said in the Carlos Baerga Show.
Would a trade for Marcell Ozuna make sense? #GuardsBall

The former Guardians infielder agreed.
Ozuna remains a fantastic hitter, and that’s what Cleveland needs: a legit, consistent middle-of-the-order thumper.
However, they already have Carlos Santana at first, plus Kyle Manzardo and David Fry clogging up the DH spot.
If Fry could play the field (that’s still not the case due to restrictions regarding his Tommy John surgery rehab) or if Ozuna were a reliable outfielder, the situation could be completely different.
Still, as things stand, it’s a deal that could bring more problems than solutions, especially considering Ozuna’s off-the-field baggage.
