After losing Game 2 of the ALCS and falling down 0-2 to the New York Yankees, the Cleveland Guardians now head home for three games at Progressive Field in hopes of turning things around and getting back into this series.
The first two games were disheartening for Guardians fans, and one analyst recently revealed his concern about the team following the Game 2 loss.
MLB Senior Writer Anthony Castrovince called into ESPN Cleveland on Wednesday morning and said about the Guardians, “It’s been kind of flabbergasting to see the number of miscues and the moment just seems bigger than them.”

Castrovince also added that the new Yankee Stadium isn’t as intimidating as the old one, also saying “You gotta protect the baseball. You gotta catch it, you gotta pitch it.”
Cleveland made two errors in Game 2, which led to the team eventually getting into an insurmountable early 3-0 hole, and in Game 1, the team managed to only put seven runners on base while also committing five wild pitches, almost all of which came in high-leverage situations with multiple runners on base and could be attributed to catcher Bo Naylor not doing a good enough job blocking balls in the dirt.
The bats being cold is enough of an issue to deal with, but combining that with poor defense makes this an unwinnable situation for the Guardians.
The team has to get off to a better start against Clarke Schmidt in Game 3 and stop making defensive miscues if there is going to be any chance of turning this series around.
