For years, Cleveland Guardians fans have complained about the Dolan family.
While the owners have kept the team afloat and competitive, they haven’t usually spent a lot of money on the roster to do so.
That makes sense, given the team’s small-market nature and the changing economics of the game.
But with a sale looking possible, analyst Dre Knott speculated about when the team might change hands.
"Not much longer, it's probably in the next year or two years… it's going to be sooner than later," – @DreKnott on how much longer the Dolans will own the Guardians. pic.twitter.com/YPUVnxlDGL

In 2022, the Dolans sold a minority stake in the team to an investment group led by David Blitzer.
The deal reportedly included a clause that would allow Blitzer’s group to acquire majority ownership after six years.
Of course, as usually happens with big deals like these, the parties can agree to change the terms, and that doesn’t necessarily mean that the Dolans will give up all of their stake in the franchise.
Hopefully, if the deal goes through, the new ownership will be more willing to spend to address the biggest areas of need, even if that doesn’t mean going after the likes of Juan Soto, Ronald Acuna or Shohei Ohtani.
With MLB markets as they are, it will be interesting to watch if anyone is able to take a different approach to baseball in Cleveland.
