Jose Ramirez is carrying the Cleveland Guardians.
You don’t have to be a baseball expert to see that.
However, the historical implications of some of his stats are truly remarkable.
Not only is “J-Ram” the best player on the Guardians by far, he is leading them in multiple categories.
In fact, no player in the history of the game has led his team in as many stats in multiple seasons through 65 games.
“Jose Ramirez leads all Guardians players in hits, doubles, home runs, runs scored, RBI and stolen bases through 65 team games in a season for the third time in his career (also 2022 & 2024). No other MLB player has done that more than once in the live-ball era (since 1920),” OptaSTATS wrote on X.

These are far from insignificant stats. These are some of the most impactful and cover contact ability, power, speed and run generation.
It’s fair to say there isn’t a single player who is more important to his organization than Ramirez is to the Guardians.
Not even Aaron Judge for the New York Yankees, or Paul Skenes for the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Ramirez’s consistent excellence is what makes him one of the most valuable players in the game.
If anything, this makes it clear that Cleveland needs to surround Ramirez with talent and stop wasting his prime.
It’s much easier said than done, especially for a small-market team, but if ace Shane Bieber can make it back this season, the Guardians could be a couple of impact acquisitions from making a deep postseason run.
As long as it has Ramirez, Cleveland will stand a chance.
