The Cleveland Guardians have a special prospect on their hands right now.
Chase DeLauter has excelled at every level of baseball he’s played, and he looks like a star in the making.
That’s why it’s great to hear that he has completed his rehab at the Arizona Complex League.
The 23-year-old outfielder is about to return to action after missing several weeks with a sports hernia.
“DeLauter will be activated off the injured list at Triple-A Columbus and join them in their current home series vs. Iowa in the next couple days,” Guardians Prospective wrote on X.

DeLauter boasts very good contact skills.
He posted an outstanding 12.8 percent whiff rate in the minors last season, which, if translated to MLB, would’ve been fourth-best in 2024.
He also posted a 94.1 mph average exit velocity, which, again, would’ve been right there with the best of the best among qualified MLB hitters.
Granted, injuries were a major concern even before he was drafted, which is why those numbers should be taken with a grain of salt.
However, if it weren’t for injuries, he likely would’ve made his debut with the Guardians last season.
His combination of speed, defense, power and contact projects him as the kind of 30-30 five-tool player who could be a long-term solution in right field.
Hopefully, he will be able to avoid any more trips to the injured list, because the Guardians could certainly use a boost at the plate.
