By now, everybody in baseball knows how important joining the 40-40 club is for Cleveland Guardians star Jose Ramirez.
He came up just one home run short this past season, hitting 39 round-trippers and stealing 41 bases.
Oh, he also doubled 39 times, scored 114 runs, and drove in 118.
Let’s focus on the power-speed production for now, though.
Having finished so close to the objective last season, Ramirez is certainly looking to secure it in 2025.
At 32, he is getting up there in age, yet remains an elite performer.
He worked hard in the offseason to get his body in shape for the long season.
What exactly does he want to achieve?
Well, he certainly has some lofty goals.
“Did you lose weight this winter?”José Ramírez: “I lost fat and increased muscle, so I have the same weight I finished at last season, but a different body.” “Is that so you can go 50/50?” Ramírez: “I would love to do 100/100, but the game isn’t easy. I’ll do my best,” Guardians insider Zack Meisel posted on X.

We wouldn’t bet against Ramirez, but we believe a 100-100 season might be out of the question.
All kidding aside, he remains hungry enough to put all his hard work and energy into helping the Guardians win and reach their collective goals.
Individually, it’s clear he wants that 40-40 and, why not, that elusive MVP Award in the American League.
Both his body and mindset appear to be in the right place with another deep playoff run in mind.
One thing is certain: Cleveland will go as far as Ramirez takes them, and he apparently wants to go places this year.
