The Cleveland Guardians will, starting at 3:08 pm ET, try to win the always pivotal Game 3 of the American League Division Series’.
This time the series, which is essentially a best-of-three now since they are tied 1-1, is moving to Comerica Park, the home of the Detroit Tigers.
For the home club, it will be ‘pitching chaos’ again, as everyone but Tarik Skubal and Reese Olson will be available in what is shaping up to be a bullpen game.
The Guardians, however, are going with the more traditional route and will be sending Alex Cobb to the mound on Wednesday afternoon.
Cobb will be making his first postseason start in 11 years, so if you were thinking that your time has passed, you can look for inspiration in the Guardians veteran.
“Weds will be Alex Cobb’s 1st postseason outing since starting Game 3 of the 2013 ALDS for the Rays. He’ll be the 1st pitcher to go 10+ seasons between postseason starts since Bret Saberhagen (1985 WS G7 to 1995 NLDS G4),” MLB stats expert Sarah Langs posted on X.

Cobb had to overcome hip, shoulder and finger injuries to get to where he is.
He hasn’t thrown an inning in MLB since September 1 against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
A few days after that outing, he was scratched from his next one on September 7 with a recurring problem for him: blisters.
He is healthy now, and the Guardians have placed their hopes on him.
He did pitch well in the regular season when healthy, posting a 2.76 ERA in 16.1 innings.
If the blisters don’t re-appear (always a possibility), then Cobb has a fair chance to keep the Guardians in the game on Wednesday.
