The Cleveland Guardians swept the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday by winning the series finale with a 6-4 final score.
The Guards’ bullpen had another excellent game, as they entered in the fifth inning and conceded no earned runs en route to a win.
“Game over. #Guardians hold off the White Sox 6-4 to complete the sweep in Chicago. Cleveland improves to 84-62 on the season. The Guards own a 4-game lead over the second place Royals and a 6.5-game lead over the Minnesota Twins. 16 games to play in the regular season,” Cleveland sports anchor Nick Camino posted on X.

It was a sloppy game in which Cleveland made three defensive errors, one by starter Matthew Boyd and the others courtesy Andres Gimenez and Daniel Schneemann.
Even with the three miscues and after conceding eight hits to Chicago, the Guardians managed to hold on and win.
Boyd surrendered four runs in 4.1 innings, but only one of them was earned.
He did concede six hits and two walks as there was just too much traffic on the basepaths, but he also helped himself with an incredible nine strikeouts.
Austin Hedges hit a home run in the third frame as the Guards built a 5-0 lead over the White Sox.
Things, for Boyd, unraveled a bit in the third inning, but he managed to escape the threat after allowing four runs, enough for his team to still lead the game.
But Nick Sandlin, Cade Smith, Hunter Gaddis and Emmanuel Clase combined to bail the left-hander out and shut down the White Sox’s offense after that.
It was a sloppy win, but a win nonetheless.
