Insider Reveals How Guardians Could Win MLB World Series

The 2026 MLB Postseason is officially here. The Cleveland Guardians are proudly part of the group of teams that made it all the way to this point after a long, grueling season.

Cleveland, however, won’t play until Saturday. That’s because they earned a first-round bye after taking their third straight AL Central crown and securing the second seed of the American League.

Every team that made it to October has a chance to win it all, including Cleveland. The league’s official site wrote a piece examining each one’s potential path to the title and what they need to achieve the ultimate goal.

It’s not surprising that Tim Stebbins, who covers the Guardians for MLB.com, identified the offense as the unit that will make or break Cleveland’s hopes.

“Yes, pitching has again been Cleveland’s backbone in 2026, through both a rotation led by Parker Messick and Gavin Williams, and a bullpen fronted by All-Star closer Cade Smith. But the offense is much deeper than years’ past, when José Ramírez often had to put the team on his shoulders. Assuming the Guardians pitch as well as we’re accustomed to, their offense is better built to provide the type of support that could lead to a deep run in October,” Stebbins wrote.

Basically, Stebbins says that the improved Guardians’ offense raises the organization’s ceiling in October play. We have seen them deploy a quality pitching staff in recent editions of the playoffs, most notably in 2024, only to fall short because of their inability to consistently score runs.

That appears to have changed in 2026, though. The end-of-the-season stats suggest that Cleveland once again enters the postseason with a fragile and mediocre offense, but the reality indicates that the unit has been one of the best in the junior circuit in the second half.

The return to form of Steven Kwan, Jose Ramirez, Travis Bazzana, and Brayan Rocchio has helped matters, and the presence of deadline additions Jo Adell and Nathaniel Lowe, plus prospect Angel Genao, has also changed the outlook of the lineup.

No, these aren’t the mid-1990s Indians in terms of power and sheer offensive potential, but the current group can certainly put some runs on the scoreboard and will prove it this weekend.
